Quick take
- Zero Company includes authored Operators and custom recruits.
- Squad bonds improve skills and unlock combat synergies.
- The Den is used to recruit, progress, and dispatch Operators.
Two kinds of squadmates
The game's squad is not a single list of identical companions. The published roster hub names Hawks, Trick, Tel-Rea Vokoss, Cly Kullervo, Luco Bronc, Jae Mordant, and Kabb Uppercut among the visible authored group.
Custom recruits give the player creation choices, while authored Operators arrive with their own identity and story context. That distinction matters when a guide calls someone a companion: a named teammate is not automatically a blank character-creation slot.
Bonds and mission selection
Squad relationships are a gameplay system, not just dialogue flavor. StarWars.com specifies that battlefield bonds unlock support abilities and cross-training benefits that improve Operator abilities and stats.
From The Den, players recruit, progress, and dispatch Operators from the galaxy map. Build around the operation's objective and the squad you currently have, then watch for bond benefits that complement the selected team.
- Authored Operators: named story characters
- Custom Operators: recruits created by the player
- Bonds: support abilities and cross-training benefits unlocked through squad development
